When your mind is changed, your life will be transformed. Remember, where your mind goes, your life follows.
Success and happiness are all about mindset. Your mindset and belief system affect everything in your life from what you think and feel to how you act and react to the world around you.
In order to achieve your goals, your mindset needs to match your aspirations, otherwise, it might be holding you back from getting where you want to be.
Liz Huber beliefs that there are seven effective ways to transform your mindset:
1. Alter your Self-Talk
The conversations we have with ourselves are a direct reflection of our mindset. If we are saying: “I am not good enough to achieve my dreams”, our thoughts will create that reality and our mindset will hold us back from having the life we want. To elevate your mindset, positive self-talk is essential. Some say this is nonsense, but telling yourself “I can do this” or “I got this”, really works and makes you feel better. You have to practice this every day anew. It is a habit and habits form over time.
2. Alter your Conversations
Once we have changed how we talk to ourselves, we must alter the way we talk to others. Start with those closest to you and work your way out to work colleagues and then the general population or new people you meet. We all fall in the trap of complaining and only seeing the negative things, such as “this year is so difficult”, “the economy is so bad, we will never recover”. Avoid these type of conversations and words. Rather focus on the positives in life: “we learned so much from 2020”, “gratitude for health and safety is my focus”.
3. Decide on the mindset you need and act as if you are that already
Once we decide on a goal we should focus on the mindset that compliments that goal. To say: “I am overweight” will not add any value to our goal of loosing weight or being fit. Rather opt for saying things related to the end goal, such as: “I love my health and eat food that will keep it healthy.”
4. Learn & Apply
Reading, learning and applying is hard work. Start small and pick reputable leaders in the field that offer great ways of how to change your mindset.
5. Surround yourself with like-minded people
The saying: “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are” fits perfectly with renewing your mindset. We should weed out those people that don’t support our successful mindset. It is easier to implement a new mindset when we spend time with people that reinforce our positive mindset.
6. Create new habits to support your mindset change
We add habits into our day that help our mindset change and support our thinking with action. For example, we decide to move from “fixing” to “growing” therefore we need to add habits of learning new things.
7. Ditch the comfort zone
The biggest enemy of success is to stay where we are. Challenging ourselves and accepting situations that are new and daring, will force us to change our mindset. Moving out of the comfort zone doesn’t happen automatically. We have to decide to do it by asking the right questions. “What situation can I put myself in that will require me to function on a higher mindset?”. Bring about your environment to train your brain!
It is said: “ Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
